William S. Ware letter written from Woodville, Virginia to his sister Elizabeth C. Wise in Williamsburg, Virginia, dated August 29, 1855. Ware writes to relate family news, to invite her to stay with his family and the winter and to admonish her for not writing. In particular, Ware writes concerning the sickness of Molley, Alexander and several of the enslaved persons on his property.
Receipt issued to Elizabeth Wise by Robert Barham for goods and services purchased from March-December, 1856. Items listed include lard, sugar, flour, a wooden bucket, sweet potatoes, and a hat. Services listed on the receipt include covering washing clothes for Henry.
Parkes Slater letter to William S. Ware dated Williamsburg, April 30, 1858. Slater writes to send Ware a list of the property taxes due from 1854-1857. Slater informs Ware that if the taxes are not paid he will be forced to sell the property to settle the bill.
E.H. Levet letter to Mrs. Elizabeth Wise, dated Williamsburg, Virginia, March 29, 1871. Levetz writes concerning the purchase of a lot in Williamsburg owned jointly by Mrs. Wise and the children of her brother, William Ware.
