Know all Men by these Presents that we Jacob Trappell & Thomas Bartle
of Surry County are held and firmly bound unto Archibald
Cocke of the county aforsaid in the sum of four pounds seven
Shillings & 6d current money of Virginia (together with a Blanket
and all customary cloathing for hir of negro Sylvia) to be
paid unto the said Archibald Cocke his Heirs, or Assigns, on or
before the first day of January next ensuing the date hereof
To which payment well and truly to be made we bind
ourselves and each of our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators
in the penal Sum of eight pounds fifteen Shilings of like
money firmly by these presents. Sealed with our Seals &
dated this second day of January 1798
