To Colour Red

Wash your yarn very clean - boil it in
strong Alum Water, half hour - Boil the Red
Wood 15 minutes - take the yarn out of the
Alum Water put it in the Dye and boil it
only 15 minutes - take it out and expose it
to the Sun until perfectly dry - do not return
it to the Dye - Then wet it thoroughly, in just
warm weak Lye - let it get perfectly
dry again - and wash it in a lather Soap suds
