[Recto]

O! come, Come away, to the bright battlefield
Where hearts should be true, and foes do not yield.
There disciplined ranks, the encounter seek
And His blood mounts guard in the warrior's chest;
And the scream of the fife, and roar of the drum
Invite the recruits saying come, O! come.

-2-

See how proudly the stars of the "Old Thirteen wave
Oer Washingtons home, and the good and the brave;
hear the Bugleman swell his inspiring note
In a startling blast from the trumpets deep throat
And in field, and by fireside pours the wild charm
Thro the patriot's soul to hasten and arm.

With mane mantling high, His war-horse in his neigh
throws a guantlet to squadrons to Join in the fray
There the sword flashes fiercely to urge its old claim,
and wrest from the bayonet, a later-earned fame
But with sternly fixed eye and musket well clenched
the victory by valor from valor is wrenched

-4-

Then who at the call of his country will share
the glories so great of a well set square
through which, as the hurrican of shot sweeps past
Shouts are mingled with cheers of "Close up. Stand fast"
And the dying a legacy deposit in trust
to [illegible] with a pen that never can rust.

[Verso]

-5-

The Leader has left fond endearments at home
And brightening [illegible] us O' then Come to him" Come!
You'll be [illegible] in the fight by mementos of bliss
the "last parting sigh! the tear! and the Kiss!!
They deserve well the fair! Who give the last breath
For a Countrys just cause, in a glorious death.
