We wrote Thee
9th Octoober: last per the New York Packet copy of which comes
herewith inclos'd This serves to acknowledge receipt
of thy favors of 12th, 21st, & 31st August. 15th September. & 15th November. the first of
which cover'd Bills to the Amount of £1397.9.6 & are all
accepted except 2 on Perkins, Buchanan & Co, one for
£62.19. which is protested & comes herewith, the other
for £426.13.4 is noted for none acceptance, & we sup
pose will share the same fate as the former, have therefore
sent the protest, we also herewith inclose Thee, Goosleys Bill
on them for £930 under protest, the Charges on tehm viz 18/6
is to the debit of thy Account. Thy Letter of 15th September. with Bills
amounting to £697.5.7 are accepted & when paid will be pass'd
to the Credit of Thy Account. as Receiver General. In answer to Thyne
of 31st. August. We have had some conservation with G. J. Williams
Esquire. and he has no doubt spoke to Lord North respecting it
as he told us he would, and write to Thee fully on it, and
which We apprehend he has done by the Letter here inclos'd
no doubt bu Thee must keep remitting us, the King will
not chuse to be dispointed in His receiving the Quit rent

altho attended with some loss in the exchange, but of course
Thee will follow their directions thereon, We hope ere this Thee
hath given our friend James. Balfour satisfactory security, if
not We desire it may be done immediately, as we do not chuse
to continue security to G. J. Williams unless we have such a security
from Thee as we approve of, and we are sensible thee will think
it but a reasonable request Inclos'd are the Notorial
Certificates of the last two Warrants Viz: for £4095 & £243,
agreable to the directions received from G. J. Williams, & for
the future there is no Warrants to be sent, as the Originals
are to be kept and Audited at the Treasury, and of which we
imagine His Letter fully explains, we shall be in Cash
about £4000 in all January, and we have agreed to pay that sum
as soon as the Warrant is ready for it, and will forward
the attested Copy of it soon after, as We should have
done these now sent, but could not untill within this Week
or two, get their positive directions respecing it We are
now balancing our Books, and shall as soon as possible
send our Friends Account. Currents. in the mean time inclos'd
is a sketch of Thine for Thy Government, We shall always
endeavour to act agreeable to Thy wishes, but it is impossible
to conform exactly to what thee requests, and as to mis

takes We hope there will be very few if any, We think there
has been scarcely any lately, as We keep our Books as
regular as possible, We are making the most We possibly
can of thy 26 Hogsheads Tobacco. per the Hanbury, the prices have
been & are very low even from 1½ to 3d and from 8½ to 10½
very fine indeed will fetch rather more, Thee may depend
it is our wish to sell our Friends Tobacco. at the top prices,
and to give them satisfaction, and by that means to
receive their further consignments, Inclos'd are Bill
Lading &c. for the few things Thee order'd, which wish safe
and to thy approbation, We have nothing particular to
add at present but remain with our best wishes for Thy
Health & Happinsess

P.S. We must request that when Thee sends the Account
of the Receiver General to the Treasury, We may have a duplicate of
it, because it has frequently happend that they want to
know the balance up to the particular time, and we cannot
inform Them, neither can We know how much remains
unpaid, or what We are liable to be call'd upon for,
& which as We are security, We think but reasonable

and they expect that we are able to inform them,
without their refering to thy Account. which is sometimes
not so readily found amongst multitude of Papers,
and it often happens that they desire to see one at
