In obedience to an order of the County Court of Caroline
County, we the commissioners therein named, have viewed the
way proposed to be turned a at the lower end John Gayles
line, to the old road a few hundred yards north of the
present road, and make to Court the following report.

On Investigating the manner in which the road as
it now runs was established we find from unquestion
able Testimony, as well as the admission of some of the par
ties concerned, that no order of Court was ever obtained
to establish the road as now used same as a publick road -
Independent of this consideration, we are satisfied from
the information of one of our body, as well as of others that the site on which
it is proposed now to locate the road, contemplated to be
changed,
was many years past, known and used as the
publick road leading from the Bowling Green to-
Dunkirk. We further State that in as much as the
desired change will not be attended with any public
inconvenience, the road being more direct and rather
nearer than the present road, but as far as the accom
modation and convenience of the individuals owning the
lands on either side, (who are all assenting to the change)
is concerned, we are unanimous ly [illegible] opinion in recommending that
the said change of the said road ought in justice to be made.
