Dear Sir

I have received according to
your order from Cary & Co one hundred
Pounds on Account of Mr Randolph; & have
signed two Receipts for the same it is
Unnecesary for me to point out to you the
Unworthiness of Mr Randolphs Conduct, if
you have any regard for Him, you will
take some pains to Convince Him of it or
else in the End He will be somewhat a
Sufferer by it. it hath alarmed me
so much that I must beg to know how
the Fortune given to my sister in Marriage
& Money since by my Fathers Will are
secured. I was much induced to
advance the Money last year to Mr Randolph
on your Request & having it in your Power

by the Sallary of the Attorney General going
through your Hands to make a punctual
Remittance of £200 per Annum: at least, I must
therefore entreat you to prevail on Him to
discharge his Engagements in a faithful
Manner.

He hath written to me of the
Probability there is of my succeeding to the
Agency, but I indeed have but little [illegible]
of it, As it is probable that his public
Conduct hath much lessened his popular
Influence, & will most probably be objected
to me it is true inded that I am so
Ambitious of being intrusted with the
Interests of so important a Province, that
the Honor of it alone, without the least
Lucrative [illegible], would be a sufficient
Reward for my most attentive & independant

Discharge of the office.

The inclosed Pamphlets will
give you no Imperfect Account of our
Foreign & domestic Occurrencies.

I am
Dear Sir
Your Most Affectionate
Humbl[e] servant.
Edmund Jenings
