Dear Sir

I am now to Acknowledge the receit of your favor of 6th February.
it was indeed ^ unnecessary to point out to me the foibles of our Friend, I have beheld them
with much Concern, [illegible] his Connections with a Near Relation, makes me very
tender with regard to them; for their sakes I have a Value for them, & woud do every thing
consistant with Justice to Serve him, your Nephew Edmund: is a Valuable youth, such
is my present Opinion & I believe and hope I shall have No Occasion to alter it

The 1750 bequeath to your Sister, I believe is yet Secure
but if you think it requires to be further Strengthened, the necessary steps
shall be taken to Effect it A [illegible] few years after your Fathers death
I found it difficult to get the Interest of Byrds Bond of 1500 to pay your
Sister, which made me Conclude the Principal to be in danger & the more
especially as I had not Opinion of his Security, in this Situation I
thought it ^ woud be prudent to draw it out of his hand, & place it where it
woud be more Secure; It was a this Crisis, your Sister desired me
to let [illegible] Mr Randolph have this Bond of Byrds, which I agreed too upon
his giving me Approved Security About this time it became Necessary, to
have better Security of Colonel Harrison Accordingly he renewd his Bond to you for
806 with Burwell Bassett for Security & 200£ to Mr Randolph to make up
your sister Legacy of £1700 for which Sum the Inclosed Bond was taken
& recorded in King & Queen County where I live Colonel Moore one of the
Security (tho Unecxecptionable at the time) is become Insolvent the other
three are in good Circumstances and Singly woud be taken in any
of our Courts for a much larger Sum: These transactions you were informed
of when they happen'd & thus they at present Stand & whatever you thing If any thing
further Necessary shall be done further is Necessary pray inform me & it
shall be done
