Description
The letters of Valens : (which originally appeared in the London Evening Post) / with corrections, explanatory notes, and a preface by the author. London : Printed for J. Almon, opposite Burlington-House, in Piccadilly, MDCCLXXVII [1777].
Attributed to William Burke, assisted by Richard Burke, by Halkett and Laing.
The three Burkes, Edmund, William and Richard, all appear to have written for the Evening post over the signature of Valens.
Henry Laurens, in his Narrative (South Carolina Historical Society, Collections, v. 1, p. 22) states that Captain Lloyd, of the British Navy, gave him a pamphlet "written and published by himself, under the signature of 'Valens, ' in which the war ... is condemned" [etc.].
